Spirits were bolstered and hearts reinvigorated this October when WAIT Year of Service members Molly Rhodes and Hyun-Sun Roche traveled to Worcester, MA for a training workshop with the local team.

The Worcester team has been active since 2007, and was one of the largest teams in the country for many years. These days, the team consists of around 12 active, year-round members and several other members who participate during summers and breaks from their college studies. Team director Sam Wada requested a training workshop to inject new life and energy into the team, whose members were looking for new ways to move forward.

On the first day of the workshop, team members met at Lakeview Church to learn about WAIT team history and share stories they had researched beforehand about individual struggles with AIDS. On the second day, Molly led the team members in learning and reviewing the dance for “Beauty from Pain.” Afterward, the team members prepared a light supper for their parents and presented appreciation cards to team parents. The final day of the workshop involved music practice, fund raising, and some team bonding activities.

In the end, Hyun-Sun and Molly left the team feeling hopeful, and with new goals for the future such as arranging a performance in Montreal, Canada and recruiting new members.
