The WAIT team continued to expand in Europe as veteran WAIT member Cathlene Bell-Dumas conducted a WAIT-themed workshop in Switzerland from Sep.27-29, 2013.
The Komagata family hosted 12 participants from the Biel/Bienne, Bern, and Zurich areas from Friday evening to Sunday morning. For the first morning of the workshop, Cathlene offered a lecture on the value of abstinence and an informational presentation about HIV/AIDS in preparation for a performance at an upcoming Africa Day celebration. The discussion centered around the excellent example that WAIT can present as a group of teens who have chosen to take an active and productive stand on abstinence. Several of the members present were former WAIT members well-versed in WAIT culture already who were excited to get involved again.
On Saturday afternoon, the team learned the WAIT skit and the song “Hero” with full instrumentals. They filmed the song with hopes that they can show it to other Swiss communities and inspire young people there. Members also plan to have further workshops and rehearsals in the near future to continue learning existing WAIT acts, and possibly create some new material as well. Hopefully, they will be able to recruit more members to join in at these future meetings.
